What You Need To Do To Be Move-Out Ready
How to prepare for moving day.

Just like moving into a new home, moving out of one can be equally a daunting task. Your time with us is valued; that is why we want to be there to support you every step of the way.
As moving day approaches, it is only normal to be overwhelmed with a seemingly long to-do list, or for some, not even know where to begin. Luckily for you, we’re here to help. We’re sharing everything you need to know and do to be move-out ready.
SHOWING YOUR UNIT TO POTENTIAL TENANTS
Please be advised that once you have submitted your move-out notice to Westhaven Property Management, as per the Residential Tenancies Act, we are permitted to show your unit to potential new tenants between the hours of 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM. You cannot refuse these showings.
UNIT INSPECTION
As per your Lease Agreement, you are required to leave the unit in clean condition. All of your furniture and personal items must be removed from the unit before you return your keys. Call the office one week before your move-out date to schedule an inspection. Any damage that was not reported on your Rented Premises Inspection Report should be corrected before your departure. You will be billed for any damage Westhaven Property Management finds after you vacate the unit. Please be aware that any items left behind will be destroyed, donated to charity or disposed of immediately after move out.
RETURNING KEYS
At move out, please return all keys personally to our on-site management during business hours. After business hours, please leave your keys in the Rent Box, ensuring they are labelled with your address and unit number.
FORWARDING MAIL
Please make sure you have given us your forwarding address before you vacate the unit. If we do not have a forwarding address for you, we assume you have put in a change of address with the Canadian Postal Service.
TRANSFERRING UTILITIES
If you are responsible for paying utilities, you must contact the utility company to advise them you are moving. Please make sure your utilities are transferred back to the Landlord’s name upon your departure from the unit. Please make sure you do not request to turn off the service entirely. If you do, damages may be charged against your account, as would any turn-on/turn-off charges.
Moving out of your rental involves careful planning and consideration. Remember to maintain an effective schedule to accomplish all of your to-do list tasks before moving day. We wish you nothing but luck on this new journey!
