Toronto Rental Changes During COVID-19
How you can protect yourself throughout the second wave.

This year has been one that none of us could have expected. It has altered the way we live our day to day lives in more ways than one. Renting during the COVID-19 crisis has also shifted, as necessary measures are put into place to combat the spread.
As the pandemic continues to rock the nation, the federal government has implemented temporary changes to protect you throughout the second wave.
Physical Distancing
Taking the necessary health and safety measures is needed to help stop the spread of COVID-19. It is a high-stress time that requires patience and understanding from both Landlords and tenants. The government strongly encourages tenants to limit entry for non-residents and respect physical distancing throughout the property.
Mandatory Use Of Face Masks
Although it is heavily encouraged to remain home as much as possible, there are times when leaving your home is needed. While in a public indoor space, or where physical distancing is not attainable, all individuals must wear a mask or face covering. This is enforced throughout all public indoor spaces throughout the province.
Rent
Tenants must pay their rent during this time unless otherwise stated. If a tenant falls ill or is required to self-isolate, this may prevent them from doing so. In this case, it is encouraged for tenants to rely on government subsidization to pay their rent.
During these challenging times cooperation from both Landlord's and tenants are needed. Work collaboratively to respect necessary precautions that will help protect you.
