Sustainable Living in Rental Properties

2 min read.

While renters may not have control over major property upgrades, there are still numerous ways they can make a positive impact on the environment within their rental spaces.

The number one way renters can focus on more sustainable living is to conserve energy. Simple actions, such as using energy-efficient light bulbs and unplugging electronics when not in use, can lead to noticeable reductions in energy consumption.

Additionally, renters can optimize their use of heating and cooling systems by keeping temperatures moderate and utilizing fans or space heaters as needed. This can help the environment but can also lower utility bills.

Water consumption is another aspect of sustainable living. Renters can make changes by installing water-saving fixtures, like low-flow showerheads and faucet aerators if permitted by their lease agreement.

Renters can participate in sustainable living practices if they have access to an outdoor space. Starting a small garden can promote food production and green living.

Sustainable living as a renter involves making conscious choices and adopting practices that align with environmental practices. Renters can make a meaningful difference in their own homes with one small change at a time.
